I know you would bring an authentic voice to this story - jump in with both pumps! By the way - I'm a blogger now! Can you belive it? See you at our next meeting!

xo,
BarbaraBarbara Bietzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02335783783577970722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19440114.post-61229689303836174912007-01-29T15:52:00.000-08:002007-01-29T15:52:00.000-08:00That's really wonderful--you have the knowledge an...That's really wonderful--you have the knowledge and the ability to help these kids more than you will ever know. So did Jay!

My perspective on the drug/alcohol problem may be a little skewed because two of the classes I'm in are for the "at risk" kids who are on their last legs before getting kicked out. However, it is definitely more out in the open than when I was in high school.

Your son will be fine in middle school. Didn't mean to scare you! I'm finding that good and loving parents have A LOT to do with which road the kids take. So, don't you worry!

Thanks for reading!

EveDisco Mermaidshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16749764215612594204noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19440114.post-83602938506092493682007-01-29T11:00:00.000-08:002007-01-29T11:00:00.000-08:00Eve, go for it. The way you write on your blog, I ...Eve, go for it. The way you write on your blog, I know you'll find the right balance of realism and alleviating humor to make the book totally readable for kids, so they'll let your message sink in. And with your experience and knowledge, I think you have to write this book.

I grew up in your neighborhood--in Arroyo Grande, and I know SLO isn't exactly an urban, crime-ridden community! There were drugs, I know, but it just didn't seem as all-pervasive. In other words, little sheltered me knew they were there, but I wouldn't have had a clue how/from whom to get them.

My son starts middle-school next year, and I'm just hoping that he's sane, happy, and--hopefully-- cautious enough to keep safe.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
