Hometown Signing -- Jay

It was awesome to do a signing at the bookstore where I worked while writing much of Thirteen Reasons Why...

Me reading as Clay and Sabrina reading as Hannah...

I never thought I'd say this, but I love public speaking...

Yes, I managed to squeeze Vanilla Ice into my presentation...

I could look at their expressions forever...

If you misspell a name, are you supposed to buy them a new book? Just askin' for the future...

And of course, everything's more fun with the other Mermaids around...

Hmph. Now I'm eternally pissed that I missed the Vroman's signing. Sigh.

I think you're not allowed to use whiteout for book signings. So I suppose you'd have to get them a new one. =]

I wish you could have posted a utube. I'd really like to hear you speak. I'm sure it would be inspirational.

You have spoken and signed up north, down south, soon in Alabama, and who knows where else in the future. We finally got our turn to see you in action and it was great! Wish you all the best because you deserve it-keep on writing.

All our love,
Mom and Dad

Ah, it's a shame the DMs - or any other amazing authors, for that matter - live anywhere near me. Stupid Maryland. I travel a lot in the summer, though, so maybe I'll be able to meet the DMs one place or another.

Hmm... A YouTube of my presentations. That could be fun. I'll definitely think about it. Then, even people in good ol' Maryland could see it!

Looks like a great time! What DO you do if you mess up their name? I really want to know. Maybe come up with a clever doodle to go over it? "See, I signed it to you AND I drew a bunny! In the middle of your name. Cool, huh?"

Please let me know if you come to NC! :)

I have always WONDERED if you had to buy them a book if you misspelled their name! I mean, how could you avoid it? Surely it happens, right? Can you just tell them that that makes the book more valuable?
